Study Tour to Cambridge

1. Objectives: To improve students’ leadership skills, deepen their understanding of cultural conservation and business development, inspire them to learn and think from multiple perspectives, and broaden their international horizon, so as to enhance their all-round abilities.
2. Target participants: Students who are holding valid Macao SAR Resident Identity Cards, and attending full-time bachelor programs in the academic year 2018/2019 in higher education institutions in or outside Macao (except for those who are attending the final year of the higher diploma or bachelor programs which last for 4 years or more)
Note: Participants must be enrolled in a higher education course during registration and when the activities take place.
3. Duration of Visit: 3 to 18 August, 2019 (16 days)

7. Registration: Method 1: Registration can be made at this webpage with the following documents:
  1. Photocopy of the valid Macao SAR Resident Identity Card (front and back);
  2. Photocopy of the valid student card (front and back);
  3. Photocopies of transcripts for the academic year 2018/2019 and previous academic years (names, majors, disciplines and scores must be shown on the transcripts while freshmen must also submit photocopies of transcripts of the 12th grade of secondary education);
  4. Submit a proposal of no less than 400 words, which includes the personal expectation of participating in the activity, and a plan of the final production derived from the experiences and thoughts after participating in the tour. (Those who apply for both “Delegation of Outstanding Macao Higher Education Students to the European Union and UNESCO” and “Study Tour to Cambridge” will only need to submit one proposal);
  5. Letter of recommendation (if any).
    (The size of each uploaded document must be less than or equal to 1MB.)

Method 2:You may obtain or download the application form either from the Centre for Higher Education Students (location map) or the reception of DSES (location map), fill out the personal information and submit the form, together with the required documents, to any of the above-mentioned locations.
8. Selection:
  1. Curriculum vitae assessment (those with excellent comprehensive performance will be invited to interviews)
  2. Interview (mainly conducted in English)
9. Interview Dates: From 11 to 17 April, 2019
(All interviews will be conducted via online free video software)
10. Results
Announcement:
On or before 30 April, 2019 on the activity webpage
(The admitted students will be informed via e-mail.)
11. Deadline for Submitting Supplementary Documents: The admitted students must submit the following information to the Centre for Higher Education Students (note 1) or by mail on or before 7 May, 2019:
  1. Photocopy of the personal information page of the student's passport with a minimum of six months validity from the date of departure;
  2. Declaration (click here to download).
Note: The above documents may be submitted via a designated person with a certificate of entrustment signed by the admitted student.
12. Arrangements: The activity is divided into three phases:
The First Phase
  1. Preparatory Arrangement: Students will be divided into two to three groups. Each group will arrange its own group meetings to collect information about the organizations and scenic spots they would like to visit during the spare time and plan an itinerary. Each group shall regularly report the progress of work to DSES.
  2. Preparatory Meeting (30 July):Each group will report the collected information and itinerary suggestions, and finalize the itineraries and division of work. Briefing on important matters will also be given.

13.Activity fee:
  1. Each participant has to pay MOP3,000.00 for the activity. The successful applicants will be informed via e-mail about the details on the payment of fees after the admission list is released.
  2. The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region shall be responsible for the following costs:
    • A round-trip airline ticket between Macao and London, valid for three months; participants can request to postpone the return date to Macao on their own and have to bear the costs that may be derived;
    • A round-trip ferry ticket between Macao and the Hong Kong International Airport, according to the flight schedule to/from London. The time of the ferry tickets cannot be changed once it is confirmed. Students who want to change the set time of the ticket will be responsible for the charges caused;
    • Part of the activity fees;
    • Travel insurance for the period of the activity. Students who will extend their stay should buy travel insurance for the respective period of extension at their own cost. At the same time, it is also the responsibility of the students themselves to ensure their personal safety and meet their obligations in any accidents and incidents during the period of their extension. Students may arrange extra insurance on their own if necessary.
14. Obligations:
  1. Participants are required to attend and complete all the meetings and arrangements listed under the points of “Arrangements”. Those who fail to fulfill the above-mentioned requirements will be disqualified or will not be issued the certificate.
  2. Those who cannot attend the closing meeting should inform DSES by e-mail in advance. DSES reserves the right to issue the certificate, depending on the reason of absence.
  3. Participants are required to submit their final productions (in any format) on or before 31 August
  4. Participants are required to submit a report of experiences of no less than 1,000 words to DSES on or before 30 August, either in Chinese or English.
15. Remarks:
  1. Before registration, students should ensure that participating in this activity will not affect their regular academic course arrangements.
  2. The activity fee of MOP3,000.00 will not be refunded once it is paid upon students’ confirmation of participating in this activity.
